Self-Portrait for 2025 (existential thread)

This self-portrait traces the body’s outline as boundary between interior self and outside world. Collaged fragments surround a vulnerable pink core, suggesting feminine identity as expression and armor amid existential uncertainty.

Self-Portrait for 2025 (existential thread) shows the outline of my own body, the black line establishing a boundary between the interior self and the external world. Within that silhouette, fragments of color and imagery speak to experience, memory, and influence.

At the center, a soft pink core represents a place of tenderness and vulnerability. Surrounding fields of color both press into and partially obscure this interior space. These fragments suggest the many outward expressions of personality—the ways we present ourselves to the world—which can also function as a kind of protection, masking a more fragile interior.

Fine white threads wander across the surface, referencing textile processes while evoking thought, connection, and entanglement. Created as the tumultuous year of 2025 unfolded, the work reflects on identity as layered, porous, guarded, and questioning—continually negotiated.
